While pursuing and then accepting my autism diagnosis, I made diary comics and posted them on Instagram at the account @my_unsecret_diary. I named her Spiderhead because the lines of hair make her head look like a big spider. She has huge eyes which grew out of glasses and into a metaphor for how I’m seeing and observing a huge amount but only have a tiny mouth and a soft voice.
Although I had some small dabbles before this, my Spiderhead comics mark the official start of my sequential art journey. By keeping them basic I was able to finish them and publish them regularly for about a year.
