Good Faith

I made this comic as part of the year long course I did with Sequential Artists Workshop. It’s inspired by many things: on the top layer you can see my concerns with AI, what we use it for, and whether or not it will actually solve our problems. In this story, the recyclable toy printer certainly solves the problems of excess consumption and plastic waste from disposable toys, and saves space in Claire’s small bedroom. However, it does not solve the problem of her loneliness. This loneliness, along with both Claire and Daisy’s personalities, are inspired by my experience of trying to build friendships as an autistic child. Feeling deep emotional connection to toys and objects while distaining the nonsense of other children was an interesting contradiction to live with that did not help me make many friends. This story was featured in the SAW anthology alongside my classmates’ work.

As a fun little follow-up to this project I adapted the script as a text game in Twine, which can be played here. It’s very brief, and more of a proof of concept to help me understand how Twine works.
